Since NJPAC opened in October of 1997, it has already attracted more than five million patrons where 900,000 of them are just children. Media outlets also cited NJPAC like Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Baltimore Sun, Miami Herald, Travel and Leisure, Crain’s NY Business, and Forbes. The Prudential Hall of New Jersey Performing Arts Center is one of the greatest and glamorous in the world.
NJPAAC also offers certain programs like Teen Jazz, Youth workshops and orchestra festivals, musical programs during the summer, scholarship fund of Carollo, performing arts scholarship (Star-Ledger), performance workshop for the youths during summer, and other special programs.
Aside from the programs, NJPAC also has an academy wherein it accepts residencies in theater, music, and dance. Early in 2001, Lucent Technologies Center for Arts Education was inaugurated adjacent to the center. Last year, 2007, the search for young artist talents was held there.
Annual events are also held at NJPAC like the JPMorgan Chase Sounds of the City. Every year, this event is able to attract more or less 3,000 people. The event is held at Theater Square every Thursday on summer months. This special annual event provides the people of Newark a weekly social series.
